Alternative Power Systems for the Network

Brooke Associates' innovative, alternative power systems are custom engineered, fully pre-assembled and ready to install units designed to energize the enterprise network. Whether the purpose is to “go green” or deploy in areas with limited or no traditional utility service, Brooke Associates manufactures stand-alone and integrated solutions using only high performing, UL listed components. All systems are designed to store surplus power that is generated and enable that stored power to provide non-stop network operation.

Brooke offers three distinct system types; the DC System with AC Charge, the DC System with Solar Assist and the Total Solar System (The SolarNEMA).

DC System with AC Charge

This system is designed to integrate with a part-time AC source, such as a light pole. When available, the AC source charges the system's batteries and the stored power is used to keep the network equipment operational. Brooke Associates custom designs these units for the customer's specific network equipment load and for the number of hours of AC charge available.

DC System with Solar Assist

This hybrid design incorporates the functionality of the AC Charge system with a solar component. The dependence on utility power versus solar power can be adjusted to fit both seasonal fluctuations and customer specific requirements.

Total Solar System

Designed as a stand-alone system, the Total Solar unit from Brooke Associates utilizes the best available solar technologies to convert energy from the sun. A battery bank is used to store the energy produced by the solar modules, which allows the network to be operational even when the system does not receive sunlight. The number of “black days” (days without sun and energy production) is variable and can be tailored to the customer's needs and the relevance of the network operation.

Standard and Custom Sized NEMA Enclosures

These robust, “plug'n'play” systems are manufactured in weather resistant, aluminum NEMA/IP rated cabinets. All systems are available in standard AP and IDF sizes or can be fabricated to any custom specification. Components assembled within the cabinets are mounted, wired and fused to the highest possible standard of quality with an emphasis on code compliance. The reference manual for each system provides installation guidelines. Brooke Associates strongly recommends that customers use a licensed electrician/contractor for installation and follow local building codes.
